Why parents love it

Satin cotton is not a synthetic fabric — it is 100% cotton woven in a satin weave. The way the fibres interlock creates a smooth, silky surface rather than the slightly textured feel of standard cotton percale. For a baby's skin — significantly thinner and more permeable than adult skin — that smoothness matters. There is no roughness to irritate, no bunching or wrinkling that creates uneven pressure during hours of sleep contact.

This sheet goes on top of the YappyShield waterproof fitted sheet as the surface the baby sleeps on directly. It gets changed frequently — daily or every couple of days — because it absorbs sweat, dribble, and general baby contact. Machine-washable at 30–40°C, it is quick to turn around as part of the rotation. You need at least two from day one — ideally three — so one is always on the cot, one is clean and ready, and one can be in the wash without leaving you short.

What is satin cotton and why does it matter for a baby?

Satin cotton is 100% cotton — the satin refers to the weave, not the material. A satin weave interlocks the fibres in a way that creates a smooth, silky surface rather than the slightly textured feel of standard cotton percale. For babies, whose skin is thinner and more sensitive than adult skin, a smoother surface means less friction and less potential for irritation during long periods of sleep contact.

How does this sheet fit into the cot bedding system?

The correct layering is: mattress → YappyShield waterproof fitted sheet → YappyLux satin fitted sheet. The YappyShield sits directly on the mattress and protects it from leaks. The YappyLux goes on top as the surface the baby sleeps on. Both sheets are elasticated all the way around and stay in position independently.

How is this different from the YappyShield waterproof sheet?

They are not alternatives — they are used together. The YappyShield is the first layer, going directly on the mattress to protect it from leaks. The YappyLux is the second layer, going on top as the actual sleeping surface. Every cot needs both.

How many of these sheets do I need?

At least two — ideally three. One on the cot, one clean and ready, one in the wash. Babies go through top sheets frequently and having spares means the cot is always ready without waiting for laundry.

What size cot does this fit?

120×60 cm — a standard European cot size. Fits the YappyIcon cot and any other standard 120×60 cm cot.

How do I wash it?

Machine wash at 30–40°C. Do not bleach. Iron on medium heat if needed. Hang dry — do not tumble dry or dry clean.

Where is this made?

Made by YappyKids, a brand with over 10 years in the nursery furniture and bedding market.
